Ye Olde Soup is a Game Boy game created during the project A Pixel's Journey as part of CoLab 2023 at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London, UK). It sees you taking control of an individual who finds their way into the ancestral, liminal Soup Town, which serves as a temporary home for a wide range of creatures and entities who need help with unfinished business before leaving for good. References to our interpretation of 'A Better Place' (this year's CoLab theme for all projects) are abundant within a cheerful and whimsical environment which could potentially serve as a child-friendly way of first touching on concepts of death, the passing of time and solidarity.

Most elements like character designs, music, scene designs, story and functionality have been created from scratch using a free piece of software called GB Studio. Virtually no members of the group, which encompasses composition, classical performance and musical theatre performance students, had any previous experience with video game making or software development.
